Metal‐Mediated Interactions in Homo‐ and Heterobimetallic Edifices with Lanthanides: A Study in Solution

We report here on the coordination properties of a series lanthanide cations (Ln=La, Nd, Eu, Tb, Er) with tripodal homoditopic ligand L, which is bearing three diamido-dihydroxamate arms anchored tertiary amine. The complexes L lanthanides were studied in MeOH/H2O (80/20 by weight) solvent and marked size-discriminating effect depending intramolecular interactions was observed dinuclear edifice. Positive cooperative effects favour formation bimetallic LLn2 compared monometallic analogues for heavier (Eu, Er), while lighter ones (La, Nd) show decrease corresponding species. Moreover, increased levels heterobimetallic are detected Ln(III) pairs containing ion one. In contrast adjunctive exchange reported LFe2 CDTA, substitution reaction occurs according to disjunctive mechanism. Our work thus highlights importance balance between rigidity structure flexibility side accommodate two trivalent supramolecular ensemble.
